According to the Anadolu news agency, Turkey’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) fined the local unit of cryptocurrency exchange Binance an 8 million lira ($751,314) punishment for infractions discovered during liability inspections.
The fine levied against BN Teknoloji was the first of its sort since the authority took over oversight of crypto-asset service providers in May, according to the state-owned news agency, which did not elaborate on the violations or inspections.
According to a Binance representative, the business does not discuss its discussions with authorities and regulators in public. At the weekend, MASAK could not be reached for comment.
