Permag Expands Global Footprint with New Manufacturing Hub in Germany

Strategic European facility to boost advanced magnet production, supply chain resilience, and faster customer support

Elk Grove Village, Illinois, 20 March 2026 – Permag, a global leader in rare earth materials and high-performance magnetic solutions, has announced the launch of a new manufacturing facility in Korntal-Münchingen, Germany. This move marks a significant step in the company’s global expansion strategy and strengthens its presence in the European market.

The new 3,000 square meter facility is designed to enhance production capacity while bringing Permag closer to its European customers. By establishing a local manufacturing base, the company aims to deliver faster lead times, improved technical support, and greater flexibility in meeting customer demands across industries such as aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductors.

With over 75 years of experience, Permag is known for producing precision-engineered magnets and magnetic assemblies used in mission-critical applications. The new facility will be equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies to ensure high-quality production, strict traceability, and compliance with rigorous industry standards.

According to CEO Joe Stupfel, the expansion reflects the company’s long-term vision to strengthen customer relationships and improve supply chain efficiency. By operating within Europe, Permag can respond more quickly to regional needs while maintaining its established standards of engineering excellence.

The Germany site is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2026 and will serve as a hub for prototyping, engineering collaboration, and scalable manufacturing. It also offers room for future expansion as demand for advanced magnetic solutions continues to grow across Europe.

Carlos Castro, Managing Director for Europe, highlighted that the new facility brings both independence and closer collaboration. It allows the European team to operate with greater autonomy while staying aligned with Permag’s global capabilities. This setup is expected to improve responsiveness and support innovation across key sectors.

Permag remains the only North American producer of Samarium Cobalt magnets, a critical material widely used in high-temperature and high-performance environments. Backed by a legacy of innovation and precision manufacturing, the company continues to focus on solving complex engineering challenges for its global customers.

As industries increasingly rely on advanced materials and precision components, Permag’s investment in Europe positions it to play a key role in the future of high-performance manufacturing and engineering.
