In warehouses and Whole Foods stores, Amazon created a roving robot with UV light bulbs that may destroy the coronavirus

Amazon created a robot that uses UV light to attack the new coronavirus.

With a towering metal frame coupled to a rectangular wheeled bottom, the robot resembles a hotel luggage cart. At least ten UV tube lamps are installed on one side of the frame.

The robot moves through the freezer aisle of a Whole Foods store, focusing UV light on the freezer doors, in a video shared with CBS News’ “60 Minutes.”

The robot might be used to eliminate the virus on surfaces like food, packaging, and door handles in warehouses and Whole Foods shops. The UV robot was designed and tested by Amazon’s Robotics group, according to a spokesperson for the business, Kristen Kish.

“While these mobile units are not currently being used in any Amazon or Whole Foods Market locations, we’re excited about the possibilities and will continue to innovate to ensure that we are supporting our employees, customers, and communities,” she continued.
