Honda Motor Co (7267.T) announced on Wednesday that it has inked a joint development agreement for lithium-metal batteries with SES Holdings Pte Ltd, a Boston-based EV battery business.
Honda said in a statement that SES planned to list on the New York Stock Exchange through a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) transaction, with Honda buying around 2% of the listed business, SES AI Corporation.
Lithium-metal batteries, which are currently utilized in most battery-electric cars, are predicted to have a better energy density than lithium-ion batteries.
