Apple and Google have been asked to submit compliance plans for South Korea by the middle of October.

According to a regulatory official, Apple (AAPL.O) and Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) Google have been ordered to submit compliance plans for a new South Korean law that prohibits major app store operators from forcing software developers to use their payment systems by mid-October.

Apple and Google did not respond to requests for comment right away. The Korea Communications Commission will shortly draught enforcement legislation to go along with the country’s Telecommunications Business Act being amended.

The majority of the new legislation took effect in mid-September. According to the official, the enforcement ordinance will be drafted within six months, if not sooner.
