According to Japanese Trade Minister Hagiuda Koichi, who spoke at a news conference in Washington, the US and Japan have resolved to establish a new global semiconductor research center.
During economic negotiations between the United States and Japan, the countries decided to collaborate on collaborative research for next-generation semiconductors to establish a reliable source of critical components.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said there was extensive discussion Friday “about how Japan and the United States could collaborate, especially with respect to advanced semiconductors.”
