Tesla recalls nearly half a million cars over safety issues

Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) is recalling more than 475,000 Model 3 and Model S electric cars in the United States due to a rearview camera and trunk concerns that enhance the risk of a catastrophe, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The electric vehicle manufacturer in the United States is recalling 356,309 Model 3 vehicles from 2017 to 2020 due to rearview camera issues and 119,009 Model S vehicles due to front hood issues.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that “unavailability of the rearview camera display may influence the driver’s rearview and increase the danger of an accident.”

In premarket trade on Thursday, Tesla shares were down 1.1 percent. According to the NHTSA, Tesla is unaware of any collisions, injuries, or deaths involving its Model 3 and Model S vehicles.
