Google, a leading provider of technology, is making it simpler for programmers to create apps that function on both Android and non-Android devices. It has unveiled a brand-new cross-device software development kit (SDK) that enables programmers to create complex multi-device interfaces using a clear and user-friendly set of APIs.
For Android phones and tablets, the cross-device software is accessible via a developer preview. It works with Android versions up to 8. The app will become available for non-Android operating systems and Android surfaces later.
Google claims that the cross-device SDK software would provide developers with more options for their apps. Such apps will first be able to find adjacent devices. They will also be able to create safe connections between different gadgets. According to Google, the SDK software provides multi-device communication using WiFi, Bluetooth, and ultra-wideband.
“This SDK allows you to focus on what matters most — building delightful user experiences and connecting these experiences across a variety of form factors and platforms,” said Google. “In addition, apps will not have to declare or request runtime permissions for connectivity protocols, and the user can allow apps to connect to only the device they selected,” it further adds.
