INVIDAR: Innovating Real-Time 3D Solutions for a New User World
The number of times we hear terms like “metaverse” or “VR” enter conversations where future technology is involved seems to be so great that we’ve fallen into believing that these realities are simply overhyped. But David Burnet, Founder and CEO of INVIDAR, wants us to remember the real possibilities 3D solutions hold for the future, and based on the type of immersive technology INVIDAR provides, it seems like we’re in for a fundamentally new way to experience the world around us.

INVIDAR, founded in 2020 by Burnet, is a real-time 3D solutions provider supporting projects that require new, transformative visions to undertake interactive 3D experiences. These services range from real-time 3D modeling, Unreal Engine development, and comprehensive full-stack development. There is no “one size fits all” solution being offered. Instead, INVIDAR works closely to bring projects to life, and at scale. Some of the projects INVIDAR’s team has taken on recently include virtual 3D building modeling, digital replications of brand assets, simulations where users can walk freely around the digital website of a brand, or even in metahuman use cases that offer new social interactions. Their job is to transform the user and customer experience to permit even more use case possibilities. “We’re doing a lot more than just making tools that can potentially be used in the Metaverse. We create brand experiences,” Burnet says.

The ability to implement fluid and realistic 3D experiences in real time offers a new way forward for brands to be able to set themselves apart from their competitors. Throughout the interview, Burnet provides visual examples of how INVIDAR’s technology has been used for specific business use cases which seem not only customizable, unique, and realistic, but also efficient in the type of business results initially aimed for. In one example, Burnet walks through INVIDAR’s recent development of the Milwaukee Tools 3D website that him and his team rendered. “It started with the Milwaukee Product Configurator,” Burnet explains, where users can digitally interact with the company’s tool set offerings. The type of visibility the digital interaction gives means that users can look up close to the design of the tool, the color, how it functions, and more. “Because we got that delivered, we then subsequently did several more virtual events for them. So, it was about 7 figure turnovers in under 2 years in combination with other work. That's where our explosive growth came from in our first few years,” Burnet says. INVIDAR totally transformed the user experience for Milwaukee Tools’s customers, which led to more interest, more usability, and greater traffic.

Most of the INVIDAR 3D experience is offered on a web browser, accessible to anyone. “We compute down, so the data is pixel streamed to people. They can do it on their phone,” Burnet explains. But INVIDAR does so much more than the experience side of things. In their complete set of offerings, INVIDAR is focused on delivering front end, backend, and in-real-time solutions to their clients. “We don't just do 3D; we combine software development as well. We make anything that you can imagine products, phones, architectural visualizations, and more that we model in 3D,” Burnet says.

There are major differentiators between INVIDAR and other CGI offerings. For starters, CGI gets away from the qualitative metaverse experiences of the technology. Instead, INVIDAR has their eyes set on making these interaction-based environments a tangible, simultaneous reality, rendered seamlessly and with enhanced interaction capabilities for any customer visiting the built-out offering.

For such innovative solutions, you would think that the team at INVIDAR is composed of many people from diverse backgrounds. In all honesty, INVIDAR is a small but mighty team of dedicated and passionate creators. For a team that was nominated for two global awards in 2022, one being the best VR marketing campaign of the year, and the other being the best collaboration solution of the year at the XR Awards, they were still relatively small, coming in at 6 people working on the development and deployment at the time.

The future, according to Burnet, promises ways forward for 3D interaction that we haven’t even begun to imagine yet, including in both commercial and social aspects. Now, 3D solutions are viable for a mass of users and not just as a one-off situation. The incorporation into everyday life can and will be real, and INVIDAR will help accelerate this growth towards a sustainable and all-inclusive future. “It excites me, seeing the actual real-world applications in 3D and the positive benefits,” Burnet concludes.
